Simon Johannin: a bitter childhood
L’Eté des charognes (“Summer of the carrion”, in English) is Simon Johannin’s first novel, a 23-year-old writer. His style is violent, quite caustic. The plot is set in the countryside, in “a village from nowhere” according to him, where he was born and grew up. It’s a rough and feverish tale of the transition from childhood to adolescence, and the disillusions that are born from it.
